Mu Koh Chang Marine National Park

Mu Koh Chang Marine National Park is one of the most fascinating Natural Reserve in Thailand. The marine park includes an archipelago of 52 islands with Koh Chang the largest among the island group.

The string of islands, located at the Gulf of Thailand (or sometimes called the Gulf of Siam), was barely noticed before the Thai government declare it a Marine National Park in 1982. Soon after, the park became favorite destination to Thai urbanites from Bangkok and other larger cities who crave for “simpler life by the sea” by staying in one of the few fishermen’s villages in Koh Chang Island.

The best time for water sport enthusiasts to visit Mu Ko Chang is between October and November. Southern and northern points of Koh Chang have the best diving locations. Koh Chang diving spots are well preserved meaning clear water with no sign of over-diving under the warm tropical sun.

Sea Kayaking and Canoeing are great ways to drift on the coastlines of Koh Chang and small islands nearby.

For an unforgettable experience, rent a Sunsail yacht for a day and island hop to the small, inhabited isles in the marine park.

Mu Ko Chang is truly a paradise for all nature lovers. If you feel like going away from the melancholy shores, you can head to the east side of Koh Chang, where most of the areas are still covered with breathtaking tropical forests.
